Work-Wear Essentials: A List of Pieces Every Woman Should Own

Sunday, April 06, 2014

Even though we are still college students, there's a lot of talk among us about what it means for our careers. Believe it or not, we also discuss the importance of having a solid wardrobe to support you through this milestone.

So here's our list of work-wear essentials we think one should own.

A crisp white shirt: Finding the best button-down for you may be tricky, but once you do, buy multiples! Layer it under dresses, sweaters, and sweatshirts, or wear one on its own with a pencil skirt or trousers.

Dark blue or black skinny jeans: Casual Friday is no excuse to come into the office looking extra sloppy, people. A pair of dark blue or black jeans plus the aforementioned blazer create an outfit that reads as relaxed but still put-together.

A thin V-neck sweater: Pick a cashmere one that will see you from now into early spring. Think gray and navy for neutrals, plus one or two bright shades you can use to create fresh color combinations.

A silk blouse: One with a pussy-bow strikes the professional-meets-fashion-forward sweet spot without looking too stuffy. My favorite casual office-appropriate outfit is this type of top with tailored shorts and pumps.

A black blazer: The perfect topper for in-office meetings and night out.

A pencil skirt: Get your sexy secretary (or chic librarian!) on in a sleek pencil skirt. Wool ones work for colder days, while cotton versions are ideal once the temperature starts to rise.

How many of these pieces do you own? What would you add to this list?

Kate Middleton

Adopted from: british-royals.tumblr.com

Who does not know KATE MIDDLETON? Duchess of Cambridge and also a notable fashion icon. The most important thing about her is her obsessions with HATS. Now let's take a look at some of the best look for the 'Hat Person of 2012'!

1
Adopted from: lifestyle.ca.msn.com

Her hat is very simple, but that hat makes her look someone from the 1940s

This massive hat with feathers makes the Duchess of Cambridge looks chic

When we see this black hat separately, we might find this hat weird but when Kate Middleton wears it with flowing gorgeous hairs, it is just stunning

Hands up to this dark blue small hat that is extremely gorgeous

5
Adopted from: www.modamob.com

Quite similar with previous hat, it is just this one has one big arrow with it and the material used is leather

Black hat with detailed black ribbons? Creative!

Who doesn't love pink, seriously? Me! But I have to admit this is one feminine look that is sophisticated at the same time! How you be able to do that Kate?

This velvet and feather beret was designed by Vivien Sheriff Milinery and guess what, it was custom made specially for Kate

Kate Middleton gave her outfit added sophistication with a black velvet hat by James Lock, her signature wavy locks and a winning smile

But, we can't deny this one fact: Kate Middleton looks BEAUTIFUL with hat! She just stunts us with her charm smile and chic hat. This one post is a special tribute to Kate Middleton for her amazing charity work and also not to forget, for her amazing sense of fashion.

We really hope that this post will inspire you to wear something different and be proud about it. (But, to be different, be sure to look great not weird)

Thank you dear readers, we love you xx

Some #OOTD ideas for our 'Tres Chic-ers'!

Feeling a little un-inspired this month by your closet?

Let us help you pump up your #OOTD pics!

Mix Big, Graphic Prints

Mixing bold patterns is a massive trend for spring, but pairing florals with leopard print can be a little intimidating. To ease into the look, take a cue from Anna Kendrick, use a graphic sweater to add some extra fun to a patterned skirt.

Try A Not-Black Moto Jacket

Black, leather moto jackets used to be considered crazy edgy, but they've transitioned into a style staple for everyone. Give yours a refreshing new twist by picking a bright, unexpected color, such as this hot pink!

Make Neutral Colors Pop With A Floral Pattern

Brittany, the style council of Seventeen magazine proves that black, white, and nude doesn't have to feel boring! Her floral blazer is so fun and spring-y, but the pattern feels classic enough to wear to an internship.

Swap Your Skinnies For Boyfriend Jeans

Slouchy, boyfriend-style jeans are the perfect style for spring! Their cropped lengths look great with flats or wedge sandals. Add a cropped sweater, like in this picture, for a girly touch!

Pull Off 3 Trends At Once

It only takes one thing to pull off a bunch of super-trendy pieces: CONFIDENCE. AnnaSophia Robb makes leopard print skinnies, bold black-and-white stripes, and a peplum work together.

Brighten Up Your Look With A Sherbet-Colored Jacket

Black coats are fine for winter, but to really warm up your wardrobe, try a bole sherbet-inspired shade! Keep the rest of your look simple, such as this: boyfriend jeans and plain white tee have a cool, laid-back vibe, letting her bright jacket and major statement necklace become the focal pieces of the look.

Layer Pastels & Prints For A Preppy Spring Vibe

To bring your layering game into springtime, mix pretty pastels and summery patterns with your everyday basics. For example this mint green sweated and gingham blouse have a warm-weather vibe, but still feel appropriate for the last weeks of winter.

We hope you'll be able to get some sort of inspiration from this post for your looks.

Remember, don't forget to #OOTD when you post your picture on Instagram or Twitter.

Till then,
xx
